Program of the introductory week SoSe24

Marketing is a dynamic professional field with diverse strategic and operational decision-making and action areas. They relate primarily to the market, innovation, product and services, distribution, price and communication. Marketing activities are directed at both domestic and international markets. Marketing not only permeates all companies that offer marketable products and/or services and benefits, but also affects non-profit organizations such as governmental, educational, health and charitable institutions.

Marketing has become "ubiquitous" with the consequence that many employees and managers in companies are almost always assigned management and project tasks that have a market and marketing connection during their careers. Therefore, a marketing degree is an essential step for professional development and an important door opener for career entry or further professional development.

Marketing and market-oriented leadership require not only functional skills but also change management skills. Sustainable effective marketing and the successful assumption of management functions in marketing are therefore inconceivable without well-founded business and leadership-related knowledge.

The curriculum of the marketing degree program is oriented towards:

  • Current and future work and professional situation
  • marketing-relevant qualifications, which are necessary to cope with the work and professional situation
  • marketing-relevant educational contents and subjects as curriculum elements, which are directed towards work and occupational qualifications.

Against this background, the Marketing degree program offers a staged educational concept with two professional degrees:

  • Bachelor of Arts degree program in Marketing (6 semesters).
  • Master of Arts  degree program International Marketing Management (IMM)
(4 semesters). This is a consecutive degree program, i.e. a Master's degree that builds on a Marketing degree in terms of content.
