For me, sustainability is contributing as a citizen looking for a better environment, regardless of age, sex or origin. It is having a place where we live, wanting to take care of it and protect it. My photography represents daily contributions, which anyone can make without much effort, since both individual and collective actions count in contributing to a better and sustainable world. 

For me, sustainability is associated with recycling and sustainable development. I firmly believe that our consumption-oriented society needs huge improvement and regulation. The responsibility of recycling is handed over to the end-consumer, not to the manufacturers who produce tons of disposable packaging that pollute our planet. I strongly advocate for closed-loop supply chains, with producers who admit their role in ensuring no-waste environment and governments who develop policies that effectively regulate the issue of waste recycling. The severity of the problem varies depending on the advancement of economies, with developing countries having less efficient waste-disposal systems and state control.

The future we all share depends on every single person's attitude towards sustainable development, and for me, it lies in recycling. I believe the rules of the game have to be re-established. There is a desperate need to put recycling on the same level as consumption: it must be as easy, straightforward, and fast as making a purchase".

Triple Duty Action

1.  Breastfeeding is rare beyond the sixth month of life (only 13% of all mothers still breastfeed after 6 months) and in addition a taboo topic in the public(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ffQCQVPfJU)

2.  The sustainability of breastfeeding, not only on the health of mother and child, but also on our climate is unknown to many (CO2 saving potential approx. 153kg/CO2 with 6 months of breastfeeding and tons of waste)

3.  The health care system, to which I belong as a midwife, is a factor in climate change that should not be underestimated. I am encouraged (ICM) to act as a role model in the field of "sustainability" to

watch.

Midwives accompany families in a time of upheaval and have the opportunity to bring thinking about "sustainability" to families on many levels (health, nutrition, building materials, care, ecology, etc.). Investing in midwives is an opportunity for greater sustainability.
