Taxation studies

Business Administration with a focus on Taxation and Auditing (B.A.)

Profile

Nothing is as constant as change. This is especially true for taxes and accounting. This is exactly what we prepare you for.

In the Business Administration degree programs with a focus on taxation and auditing, you will gain up-to-date knowledge of national and international regulations and always have your finger on the pulse of the times.

In your first major, Taxation, you will learn about the most important tax types and laws, how to calculate tax burdens and how to make clever business decisions taking tax laws into account.

The second focus area, auditing, deals with how companies present their figures in accordance with national and international regulations and how you can check whether everything is running correctly. You will also gain an initial insight into the capital market and learn how companies are valued.

The course itself lasts 3 years (6 semesters). At the beginning, you will build up a solid basic knowledge of business administration, after which you will get fully involved in taxation and auditing. This means practical work on real issues, often in a team, after which you present your results, just as you would later on the job.

Your digital skills will not be neglected either. If functions, solvers and pivot tables sound like a foreign language to you? Datev is also completely new to you? Our competent lecturers will also help you to successfully master your digital working life after your Degree.

With your degree, many doors will be open to you, whether you jump straight into work at one of the numerous tax and auditing firms or go on to complete a Master's degree. With the relevant professional experience, nothing stands in the way of you passing the auditor or tax consultant exams.

Special Features

Topicality - Tax theory at the pulse of time

Tax law and accounting are constantly changing - which is exactly what makes the subject so exciting. During your studies, you will therefore stay close to current laws, regulations and developments instead of working with outdated content.

Maximum practical relevance & networking

The degree programs are strongly practice-oriented: Case studies, real company references and lecturers with professional experience ensure that you don't just learn theory. At the same time, you build up contacts early on that can be really valuable later on.

Digitalization & Technological Innovation

Tax consultancy and auditing are also becoming increasingly digital. That's why you will work with software solutions during your studies and learn how modern tools can make your day-to-day work more efficient.

Individuality through your elective subject

Have you always wanted to know how companies are advised? Would you like to be able to manage staff competently after your degree? Or are you interested in other things: how do I advertise when I have my own company? In the 4th semester, you can expect just the right thing: compulsory elective modules. These pick up on your business basics from the foundation course.

Mentorship programs - personal support

We accompany you. In our mentorship programs, the professors maintain close contact with you. This makes it easier for you to arrive at our university and ensures that you receive optimal support and guidance not only at the beginning of your studies, but also throughout your entire course, especially with regard to personal, organizational and content-related issues.

International perspective & internship semester

In the 6th semester, you have the opportunity to either gain international experience abroad or complete an internship semester in a company. This allows you to get to know new ways of working, gain valuable insights into professional practice and develop an early understanding of different economic perspectives.

Leadership & Business Soft Skills

Professional expertise is important, but personal skills also count in everyday working life. This is why the course specifically promotes presentation skills, teamwork, structured work and a confident approach to professional challenges and communication situations.

General studies

With the Studium Generale, you consciously look beyond taxation and auditing. You can take courses from a wide range of Departments and thus gain additional perspectives on economic, social or international topics. The courses offered by partner universities and cooperating universities also give you the opportunity to make your studies even more varied and individual.

What our graduates have to say

"I came to Germany in 2017 without any knowledge of German, and just one year later I decided to enroll in the bachelor’s program in ‘Taxation and Auditing’ at HWG Ludwigshafen. Since I had already worked as a corporate lawyer specializing in tax law in Ukraine and wanted to continue working in the tax field in Germany, this degree program was the ideal choice for me.

I was particularly impressed by the practical content and the professors with extensive professional experience. I use the knowledge gained during my studies—especially in the areas of sales tax, inheritance tax, corporate restructuring tax law, corporate taxation, and DATEV—every day in my professional life. Even while I was still a student, I was able to successfully complete internships at two Big Four firms.

The support from the International Office and my professors, who helped me with scholarship applications and the DAAD Award, was also invaluable.

Today, I work as a trainee tax consultant at a Big Four firm. Looking back, my studies at HWG Ludwigshafen laid an important foundation for my professional success, which is why I highly recommend the degree program."

Svitlana Fedko

“My degree program with a focus on tax law and auditing at HWG Ludwigshafen provided me with a very solid professional foundation for my career in tax consulting. The practical focus and the course content also laid an important foundation for the tax advisor exam, which I have since successfully passed. Looking back, choosing this degree program was the right decision for me."

Jeeten Patel, Tax Consultant at

“What I particularly appreciated about the program was the practical approach to teaching the course material. The combination of tax and business fundamentals with concrete case studies helped me better contextualize theoretical knowledge and apply it directly in a professional setting. I also found the interaction with the faculty to be very valuable, as many of them incorporated their practical experience into the courses. The program provided me with a solid professional foundation and gave me important insights for my future professional and academic path.”
