The Master's degree program in Corporate Controlling (M.Sc.) is a three-semester full-time course for graduates of business degree programs with a specialization in controlling.
During your studies, you will analyze and control corporate processes and evaluate their development. You will prepare the basis for decision-making, structure complex issues and develop solutions for operational problems.
Practice-oriented formats such as case studies, projects with companies and excursions are an integral part of the program. You will hone your analytical thinking, your understanding of figures and your ability to collaborate and communicate clearly.
The degree programs are international and interdisciplinary. You will transfer theoretical concepts to new situations, critically reflect on economic contexts and work on the further development of organizations and business models.
After graduation, you will take on tasks in operational and strategic controlling, evaluate target achievement and derive suitable measures.
Career prospects
In controlling, you deal with the planning, management and analysis of company processes. The aim is to create a sound basis for decision-making for company management and to design efficient processes.
Typical tasks are, for example:
- You support the company management with analyses and decision papers.
- You will develop and maintain internal information management.
- You monitor and control operational processes.
- You develop and analyze key figures.
- You evaluate business trends and prepare forecasts.
- You carry out target/actual comparisons and derive measures from them.
- You will be involved in budget planning.
- You keep an eye on internal planning and reporting.

Contents & Procedure
In the first two semesters, you will lay the technical foundations for your studies and your future career with a total of 10 compulsory modules.
In the third semester, you will then focus entirely on your Master's thesis. You will have six months to work on an exciting topic independently and with a practical focus.
This allows you to combine in-depth knowledge with the opportunity to specialize intensively in a topic that really interests you.

General application forms:
admisson requirements
Completed degree in economics or a comparable subject (business studies component at least 50%) with 210 ECTS. There is no minimum grade.
As some of the courses are held in English, knowledge of English at level B2 is recommended.
Studies not yet completed by the application deadline
If you have not yet completed your studies by the application deadline, you can apply if you have no more than 30 ECTS outstanding.
In accordance with Section 19 (3) of the Higher Education Act in conjunction with Section 2 (3) of the General Examination Regulations and Section 2 (3) of the Special Examination Regulations of the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society as amended, anyone who has not yet successfully completed a Bachelor's degree program or an equivalent/related degree, but who can guarantee that they will obtain the degree within one semester of enrolling in the Master's degree program, may also be admitted to a consecutive Master's degree program.
In this case, enrollment is conditional. Enrolment expires if the missing qualifications are not proven by the end of the first semester at the latest. The final examination takes place after the end of the first semester.
We therefore recommend that you make an appointment with Ms. Christine Preis (0621/5203-182 or by email) before you apply. This will allow us to clarify in advance whether you have fulfilled the admission requirements at the end of your Bachelor's degree.
Admisson requirements for a Bachelor's degree with 180 ECTS
Do you have a bachelor’s degree with 180 ECTS? No problem—with us, you can easily make up the remaining 30 ECTS.
To ensure you’re admitted to the master’s thesis, we’ll help you complete the remaining requirements in a targeted manner. To do this, we’ll work with the program director to draw up a binding study agreement (vSV) that outlines your individual path.
All you need is the completed application form and your supporting documents—such as transcripts, job descriptions, or other relevant certifications. Simply submit these to Ms. Christine Preis.
This way, even with 180 ECTS, you’ll find a clear and well-supported path to your master’s degree.
