Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Here you will find the answers to the questions most frequently asked by prospective students. Unfold the questions and contact us directly if you have any questions:
Can I apply if I have not yet completed my Bachelor's degree?
Yes, this is possible. You must complete your Bachelor's degree within one semester of enrolling. At the time of your application, you must provide proof of your completed and outstanding credits, whereby a maximum of 30 credit points may be outstanding. You must also provide proof that you have registered your Bachelor's thesis.
What professional qualifications do I need?
In addition to a Bachelor's degree in economics or a comparable subject with an average grade of 2.7 or better, you must provide evidence of your aptitude in the field of logistics. This can be achieved with at least 15 ECTS in the subject area of logistics in the Bachelor's degree program or, in the case of a Diplom degree program, with at least 10% of the curricular courses in this area. If you are unsure about credit transfer, our Program Management will be happy to advise you.
In which language do the degree programs take place?
The courses in the Master's in Supply Chain Management are mainly held in German. However, there is also a qualified proportion of English-language courses. We recommend English language skills of at least level B2 (CEFR); explicit proof is not required. However, foreign students must prove that they have sufficient knowledge of German to successfully complete their studies.
How long does the course take and how is it structured?
The course comprises a total of four semesters and 120 ECTS. In the first three semesters, you will complete five modules with a total of 30 ECTS per semester. The fourth semester is entirely dedicated to the Master's thesis, which you will complete in one semester.
Are there any tuition fees?
No. Our degree programs are basically free of charge. There is only the usual semester fee, which is used to finance services provided by the Studierendenwerk, among other things.
Can I write my Master's thesis in a company?
Absolutely, in fact that is expressly encouraged. In line with the application-oriented focus of our degree programs, we prefer Master's theses with an operational reference point, for example in industry, trade, consulting or with logistics service providers. This allows you to apply your knowledge directly in practice, gain valuable professional experience and establish contacts with potential employers at an early stage.
How practical is the course really?
Very practical. In addition to practical guest lectures by experts and managers, you can expect excursions to logistics centers and OEMs, simulations with professional software and role plays with real managers from the business world. Many of our modules have been developed together with practice partners and are continuously adapted to current developments in the industry.
What career opportunities do I have after graduation?
The range is broad: our graduates start their careers in industry (e.g. automotive, chemicals, pharmaceuticals), with logistics service providers, in strategy and logistics consulting, in strategic purchasing, in supplier management or in digital supply chain management. A doctorate is also possible with our Master's degree.
Is it possible to spend a semester abroad?
Yes, our university maintains partnerships with a number of international universities. Our head of degree program and the International Office will be happy to advise you on suitable options and how to integrate stays abroad into your individual course of study. You will also benefit from a strong international perspective during your studies.
