Digital workshop series "Intercultural Communication"!

Interested in intercultural communication? Excited to learn more about different cultural standards and dimensions?

Organized by the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society (Germany) the EuroInnA offers o series of two digital workshops on intercultural communication on a regular basis.

Digital Workshops „Intercultural Communication I and II”: Next series planned for Autumn 2023

Who? The workshops (in English) are open to all students/alumni/staff within the EuroInnA-network: Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society (Germany), Universidad de Huelva (Spain), Universidade do Algarve (Portugal), Satakunta University (Finland), and Tomas Bata University (Czech Republic)

What? Communication is the basis of our daily life, of working in teams and international networking. The way we communicate differs depending on our familiy and educational background, peer groups, regional/social circumstances, and national rules and settings.

The training consists of two 2-hour workshops:

  • Workshop I (Basic): In this first workshop we explore and experience how communication works and which rules and settings influence international communication and teamwork. We reflect on our own cultural standards and compare different cultural dimensions.
  • Workshop II (Follow-up): Building on Workshop I we dive a little deeper into the comparison of different cultures: We talk about the empirical research done by communication experts such as Edward T. Hall and Geert Hofstede and we use their ideas of cultural dimensions to analyse and discuss so-called Critical Incidents in an intercultural context.
