Violence against women

Help hotline "Violence against women"

More than every second female student in Germany is sexually harassed at her university, according to the findings of the study "Gender-Based Violence, Stalking and Fear of Crime"", which was funded by the European Commission. According to the current study, the majority of female students talk about what they have experienced in their social environment, but an equally high proportion remain silent about it, and most of those affected do not take advantage of professional counseling.

Since March 2013, these women have been able to contact the "Violence against Women" hotline. As the first nationwide counseling service, it provides round-the-clock, free and confidential support for women affected by psychological and/or physical violence - barrier-free and in 15 languages. More than 60 qualified counselors can be reached at 08000 116 016 or by e-mail and chat at www.hilfetelefon.de, and are also available to relatives, friends and professionals.
