About the Toolbox: Getting Started Information
The heterogeneity of students confronts teachers with very different prerequisites, needs and expectations of teaching content and didactics. The toolbox for good teaching in a diverse student body starts here. It offers teachers an analysis of which aspects of diversity are particularly relevant in teaching and how common teaching formats, methods and examinations take learning-relevant diversity into account.
The toolbox originated from the idea of Prof. Dr. Jutta Rump to analyze and prepare the topic of diversity in teaching for professors and other teaching staff. The concept as well as the texts of the toolbox were jointly developed by the Department of Studies and Teaching of the Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences (Imke Buß, Petra Schorat-Waly) and the Institute for Employability (Prof. Rump, Melanie Schiedhelm, Janina Kaiser).
The lecture by Imke Buß "Diversity relevant to learning: theoretical framing and practical consideration" was recorded on 8.11.2017 at the University of Graz as part of the "Highnoon - Didaktik zu Mittag".
It provides a good overview of the theoretical concept of learning diversity as well as the dimensions of learning strategies and self-directed learning. It also reflects on the event format of learning team coaching in relation to aspects of learning-relevant diversity and explains the structure of the toolbox.
