This course is aimed at learners with a solid basic knowledge of Korean who can already understand and form simple sentences. Building on previous knowledge, vocabulary and grammar will be further deepened here - with a focus on everyday situations such as leisure activities, shopping, traveling and orientation in public spaces.

Topics and content:

• Favorite things, hobbies and leisure activities

• Clothing and shopping

• Means of transportation, directions and travel

• Use of honorific expressions depending on age, family relationship and social status

Vocabulary:

• Food and dishes

• Hobbies and activities

• Clothing and appropriate adjectives

• Means of transportation and directions

Grammar focus:

• Questions with which/-r/-s

• Inability, intentions

• Future tense
• Present participle

• Sentence completion forms (formal politeness)

Learning objectives:

On completion of the course, participants will be able to express their opinions, describe projects and plans, ask for directions, use transport and find their way around in typical everyday situations. . They will also get to know and use the formal expressions of the Korean language.

Textbook: Sejong Korean 1B & Sejong Korean Workbook 1B (chapters 1-6)
