Study semester abroad

Are you planning to complete your mandatory semester at a university abroad? Then this is the right page for you. Here you will find the necessary information about the preparation, follow-up and recognition of your semester abroad.

The obligatory semester abroad usually takes place in the 6th semester of the IME degree programs. In order for your mandatory semester abroad to be recognized, you must complete some formalities before and after the semester abroad.

Before the semester abroad, you must fulfill the following minimum requirements:

  • Participation in the seminar Semester Abroad (all dates).
  • Proof of passing all module exams of the first three study semesters
  • English B2 proof
  • Russian A1 proof
  • Approval of the work to be done abroad
    • first submit to the department with course descriptions and transcript of grades
    • After approval by the International Affairs Officer in the department, submit this to International Affairs at the latest with the application for the semester abroad.

During the semester abroad:

  • In case of changes in courses IMMEDIATELY Consult with International Affairs and the responsible program manager in the department.

After the semester abroad, the following formalities for recognition of the semester abroad must be completed:

  • Certificate of enrollment from the university abroad
  • Certification of the passed, pre-approved study achievements to the extent of 30 credits (ECTS)
  • Conversion of grades from International Affairs
  • an experience report of at least 5 DIN-A-4 pages, usually in English
    • to be submitted no later than the 1st week of lectures of the following semester
  • questionnaire about the semester abroad
  • Presentation of the semester abroad
  • Application for recognition of examination achievements during the semester abroad

 You have not achieved 30 ECTS abroad. What now?

If you decide to spend a semester abroad at a NON-partner university, you will have to take care of your semester abroad yourself. However, program-specific formalities before and after the semester abroad also apply to you!

All documents both before and after the semester abroad must be submitted to the department!!!
