Future of the nursing professions: Member of the Bundestag Grau informs himself at HWG LU

The member of the Bundestag Prof. Dr. Armin Grau (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen) visited the Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences on Tuesday, November 2, 2022. With university president Prof. Dr. Gunther Piller as well as the head of the bachelor's degree program in nursing, Prof. Dr. Joachim von der Heide, he entered into professional discourse about the academization of nursing, which is considered necessary by all parties involved due to societal changes as well as structural adjustments in health care.

As a member of the Health Committee in the Bundestag, Grau informed himself about the current status of the bachelor's degree program in nursing, which started in the winter semester 2022/23 at Faculty IV of HWG LU. The primary qualifying course of study was established with funds from the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. During his visit, Grau emphasized the concern to continue to advocate for the academization of the nursing profession at the state and federal level in order to create further opportunities for the further development and professionalization of one of the largest occupational groups in Germany.
