Pre-course Mathematics (Monday, 15.09. - Friday, 19.09.2025)

Studying business studies without math? Not possible!

The pre-course in mathematics takes place online from September 15 to 19 and is of interest to anyone who wants to brush up on their school knowledge. This course is primarily offered to students who are starting a degree course in Departments I, II or III. Click here for more information and registration.

HWG LU App

The central component of your studies is the HWG-LU App. Here you will find your digital student ID, all the important portals and offers relating to student life. And best of all, there is even a special section for our first semester students!

Central first semester welcome (Monday, 22.09.)

The central welcome and information event for our first-year students will take place on September 22, 2025 in the Aula (A-Building, Ernst-Boehe-Str. 4 - 6).

We will provide further information on the procedure and program on an ongoing basis HERE .

The rest of the introductory week will be organized by the degree programs. You will soon find the program in the section of your respective degree programs on this page. Participation is strongly recommended!

Please note: MBA students are not required to attend the introductory week. You will usually be informed in detail in writing or in person by the contact person responsible for your degree programs.

"Welcome to Germany!" Workshop for international students (Monday, 22.09.)

"Studying at the university for foreign students"

This workshop is compulsory and is organized for foreign students who have not obtainedtheir degree in Germany, have only recently arrived in Germany and need to find their feet in this country. Students who do not meet this criterion cannot take part in the workshop.

Ecumenical welcome service (Tuesday, 23.09.)

The traditional ecumenical welcome service, to which all first semester students, students, education staff and employees are cordially invited, will take place on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. in the Aula (A-Building, Ernst-Boehe-Str. 4 - 6).

Introduction to research and library

Dates for the introduction to literature research and library tours can be found in the information on your degree programs.

University portal

The university portal, with its self-service functions, is used for independent study administration. There you can, for example, print a certificate of enrolment and a certificate in accordance with § 9 BAföG, keep your address details up to date, register for exams and view grades and keep an eye on your fee account.

Student Service Center (SSC)

The Student Service Center combines the areas of "Student Management" and "Application Management". If you have any questions regarding the administrative organization of your studies (e.g. subsequent submission of enrolment documents, re-registration, examinations, etc.), please contact the SSC Student Management staff.

In the course introduction you will get to know your new fellow students and start to build up important networks. We will give you an overview of the content and objectives of your degree programs so that you know what to expect.

Among other things, we will explain the examination regulations so that you understand how to successfully complete your studies. We will also show you the lecture schedule so that you can plan your time efficiently.

We will also conduct an aptitude test in business mathematics to give you an overview of the current status of the individual subject areas. Please bring a non-programmable calculator with you.

All your questions will be answered on this day to ensure a smooth start to your studies.

  • The Computer Center team will support you in setting up your university account, setting up WLAN access via Eduroam, using university portals and the university-wide UniNow app and much more.

  • Bringing your own device such as a laptop or tablet is an advantage, but PCs are also available on site.
