University West (Högskolan Väst) in Trollhättan, Sweden (January - June 2022)

Info about the selected courses and events:

- Generally, there is always an opportunity to participate in a re-exam with each course.
- Most courses in Sweden last only 5 weeks.

1. Language, Culture and Communication in Sweden (full semester)
    - Contents: Basic vocabulary Swedish + discussions about language, culture and identity
    - Very interesting course, but a lot of own initiative needed to learn the language
    - Grading: 2 academic credits (participation in seminars + making a film)
      + 2 graded exams (oral exam + assignment)

2 Marketing Communication (MC) (full semester, but done halfway through)
    - Contents: different MC theories, MC management, MC mix à Using theory
      + MC project in small groups for the city of Trollhättan
    - MC project profitable for the city as well as for practical experience
    - Grading: 2 course credits (participation in seminar + project in group work)
      + graded take-home exam

3 International Economics (5 weeks)
  - Content: Trade theories, trade barriers and agreements, WTO, exchange rates
  - Comparable to the course "Macroeconomics and Foreign Trade"
  - Grading: written exam

  4 Financial Economics (5 weeks)
- Contents: Calculation of interest, compound interest, annuity, - Basic course - Grading: written exam with focus on calculations  
 
 

Living & Free time

- Living in various student dormitories possible; 2-person shared apartments or single apartments (price: 450 - 700€ depending on housing option and size
- Numerous recreationalopportunities (skating, cycling, canoeing, playing soccer, hiking, ...)
  + numerous trips to nearby cities possible (Smögen, Karlstad, Gothenburg, Oslo, ...)
- To note: most food is quite a bit more expensive than in Germany, alcohol is enormously expensive.

- Unique, rocky and forested landscape
- The university is located 10 minutes from the largest lake in Europe
- Cash is "extinct" in Sweden
