Senate

The Senate is responsible for all matters that concern the entire university.

Among other things, it has the following responsibilities by a majority of its members

  • issue and amend the basic regulations,
  • elect the President and the Vice-Presidents,
  • issue the enrollment regulations and user regulations for central facilities,
  • to comment on regulations for university examinations, doctoral and habilitation regulations and significant changes to these regulations,
  • to decide on the establishment, modification, abolition and organization of academic institutions and operating units and general principles on the distribution of posts and funds,
  • to nominate the members of the Board of Trustees to be proposed by the university,
  • to comment on the proposals of the departments for the appointment of professors and the appointment of honorary professors,
  • decide on the establishment, modification or discontinuation of degree programs in connection with the determination of admission numbers,
  • to decide on plans for the advancement of women,
  • accept the annual report of the President,
  • to draw up and approve the overall development plan of the university.

The Senate includes at least the President as the chairing member, one member of each faculty from the group of university lecturers and members of the groups of students, academic staff and non-academic staff with voting rights.
