Successful start for the new online format launched by the Health Economics department in collaboration with the Health Economics Support Association at Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences.
The new online event series "HWG Healthcare Talks" celebrated a successful start with over 20 participants. The aim of the series is to address and discuss current healthcare topics and to promote the exchange between science, practice and other interested parties. In addition to the "classics" - the annual Health Economics Talks, which have been taking place since 2003 - a shorter event format has now been created that allows current topics to be addressed even more flexibly.
The first speaker was Marcella Eierdanz, a graduate of the HCM Master's in Healthcare Management and Managing Director of the GiP degree program.
In her practical presentation on the topic of "Future-oriented recruitment of nursing staff from third countries to secure and further develop long-term care - stocktaking and recommendations for action using the example of Filipino nursing staff", Marcella Eierdanz provided a sound insight into the complex requirements and potential of recruiting international nursing staff for long-term care using the example of the Philippines. She showed how strategically planned and sustainably implemented recruitment from third countries can make a valuable contribution to securing skilled workers in the care sector. A particular added value of her presentation lay in the concrete, practice-oriented recommendations that she developed for all phases of the recruitment and integration process - from the selection of the recruitment agency to perspectives on a societal and facility-related level in order to ensure both professional and social integration. She also addressed cultural awareness, language acquisition and professional recognition as a specialist.
Her recommendations were met with great interest from practitioners and were discussed in depth in a lively Q&A session afterwards.
The organizers were very satisfied with the kick-off; the "HWG Healthcare Talks" are to be held regularly in future to address current developments in the healthcare sector and offer a platform for interdisciplinary exchange. Further dates for the "HWG Healthcare Talks" are already being planned and will once again bring together experts from science and practice, students and the interested public.
