CHE University Ranking 2020: Study programs of the Department of Management, Controlling, HealthCare at HWG LU belong to the top group

"Business Administration with a focus on Management, Controlling & Information", "International Business Administration with a focus on Management" as well as "Health Economics in Practice" - with these study programs, the Department of Management, Controlling, HealthCare of the Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences (HWG LU) is positioned in the top group in the current university ranking of CHE and ZEIT.

As one of four universities in Rhineland-Palatinate, the HWG, University of Applied Sciences Ludwigshafen with its Department of Management, Controlling, HealthCare participated in the current CHE University Ranking. The results published today show that the Department of Management, Controlling, HealthCare is very well positioned with its study programs: For example, the department is attested a very good support by the teachers and a very good support at the beginning of the study and in the first year of study. In terms of "contact with professional practice," the bachelor's programs are particularly convincing, ranking in the top group here. The International Business Administration program with a focus on management also ranks among the top programs in terms of international orientation.

According to the detailed evaluation of the 2019 student survey, in which a good two-thirds of the respondents took part, the dual study program Health Economics in Practice (GiP) made it into the top group in six categories - "General study situation", "Study organization", "Supervision", "Support during studies", "Examinations" and "Library". The students surveyed saw potential for improvement particularly in the opportunities for studying abroad. Those responsible have already taken countermeasures here and integrated an optional semester abroad in the further development of the study program.

The non-dual bachelor's degree programs also excel in the "contact with professional practice" fact indicator: both the Business Administration with a focus on Management, Controlling and Information (BMC) and the International Business Administration with a focus on Management (BIM) programs are in the top group with 9 out of 12 points each. In particular, the practice-oriented courses and the practical exchange with external practitioners were positively highlighted.

The study program International Business Administration with a focus on Management (BIM) also ranked in the top group for the factual indicator "International orientation of studies and teaching". In terms of "student mobility", BIM also received the highest score (3/3 points).

The CHE and ZEIT press release published today summarizes accordingly: The Department of Management, Controlling, HealthCare receives "a very good rating from [its] dual students on many criteria. They are very satisfied with their general study situation and, among other criteria, also with the supervision and study organization. In the facts about research and teaching, the subject shines with very good support at the beginning of studies and with very good contact with professional practice."

"Study with personal support. - Internationality made to measure. - Practice-oriented study. - Benefiting from networks. - What reads like an abridged version of the results of the CHE ranking are the core elements of the department profile," says Dean Prof. Dr. Eveline Häusler, and adds: "The CHE ranking confirms that we as the Department of Management, Controlling, HealthCare are well on the way to making the aspirations of our profile actually tangible for students. This is all the more important given that the degree programs in controlling and management only received the seal of (re)accreditation from the Accreditation Council once again last year." Prof. Dr. Häusler would like to thank the university's central units, which have provided indispensable support, for example with regard to semesters and internships abroad, as well as with regard to the courses offered to first-year students.

About the CHE ranking:
With around 120,000 students surveyed and more than 300 universities and universities of applied sciences/universities of applied sciences (HAW) as well as dual universities and universities of cooperative education (Berufsakademien) examined, the ranking is, according to its own information, the most comprehensive and detailed comparison of universities in German-speaking countries. The CHE University Ranking asks current students about their study conditions in general as well as about specific criteria such as supervision, support during studies or for studying abroad, the courses offered, the organization of studies or the examinations. They are also asked to rate the career guidance offered, the academic or practical relevance, the rooms, the library facilities or the IT infrastructure. In addition, CHE collects facts about teaching and research.

The ZEIT study guide publishes excerpts from the ranking at www.zeit.de/studienfuehrer and answers questions about starting a degree program, finding the right place to study, and financing.
