On 16.1.2019, the last Kinderuni lecture in this winter semester took place.
The topic this time was "The Art of ReadingAloud" with Bärbel Maier and Peer Damminger from Kitz Theaterkumpanei.
To warm up, the 8- to 13-year-olds played a game in which they had to communicate without words and only through eye contact.
The rest of the children's uni, however, was not without words: the nearly 30 children learned how punctuation marks can change the meaning of sentences and even save lives ("We're eating, Grandpa!").
Working in pairs, they then explored how a simple statement can be given a different meaning by using different voice pitches.
Finally, the kids were able to demonstrate what they had learned by reading out short passages from the three children's books "Das Sams," "Sultan und Kotzbrocken," and "Krabat" in pairs. The texts were read with great intonations and different voices.
The other children, together with the two lecturers, always listened with rapt attention so that they could give a short feedback afterwards.
We are already looking forward to the lectures with you in the summer semester! Until then, best regards
Your children's university team
