European Accountancy Week 2023 in Belgium, 2025 in Ludwigshafen

The ETAP network (European Taxation and Accounting in Practice) organizes once a year the so-called European Accountancy Week, a network meeting that brings together students and teachers from all over Europe for one week. The next European Accountancy Week will take place in 2023 in Kortrijk, Belgium.

This year's working meeting to prepare the next European Accountancy Week (EAW) could fortunately again take place in presence. The Brussels Campus of the Odisee University of Applied Sciences had invited to this important meeting to discuss the detailed schedule of the EAW 2023, which will take place at the Kortrijk Campus of the VIVES University of Applied Sciences.

The arrival of the 19 university representatives from the participating 16 institutions from 14 countries in Europe took place on Sunday evening, Sept. 11, 2022; some trips took less than an hour, others had already started early at four o'clock in the morning. Until the departure on Wednesday morning, there was enough time for the Europe-wide voting, but also for many a friendly chat. You can't experience Europe more beautifully than in these conversations!

During the Working Meeting (Fig. 1), to which two participants were also connected online, important decisions were made: Joensuu (Finland), Innsbruck (Austria) and Kavala (Greece) have registered for the next Working Meetings; Kortrijk (Belgium) has confirmed the EAW event for 2023, followed by Lodz (Poland) 2024 and Ludwigshafen 2025. In addition, details of the implementation were discussed and funding possibilities were discussed; for example, from now on the newly launched funding program Blended Intensive Program (BIP) of the EU will be used, whereby the Week will also be supplemented with virtual components. A city tour is obligatory (Fig. 2); a special "outlook" is offered by the visit to MAZARS, a large auditing company (Fig. 3).

Prof. Dr. Axel Kihm has been a member of the ETAP network (European Taxation and Accounting in Practice) since2007 and has hosted the Working Meeting and the European Accountancy Week several times. He is particularly pleased to be able to host EAW 2025 at Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences. Almost 100 students and lecturers from all over Europe will spend a week at our university learning, teaching and gaining (inter)cultural experience.

But if you want to be there next year in Kortrijk, you should hurry. A maximum of 10 students from Faculty I can participate in this Week and secure ECTS for their studies! "First com, first serve!" The cost of €400 is largely covered by the university and the BIP. Interested students of all Bachelor and Master programs can already apply to Katharina Notheis(Katharina.Notheis@ 8< SPAM protection, please remove >8 hwg-lu.de) and Prof. Dr. Axel Kihm(axel.kihm@ 8< SPAM protection, please remove >8 hwg-lu.de). An information event is planned for October at the department.
