Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society sharpens its research profile

With the signing of the "Target Agreement for the Rhineland-Palatinate State Research Initiative Program" between Science Minister Prof. Dr. Konrad Wolf and University President Prof. Dr. Peter Mudra, important financial support has been fixed for the University of Applied Sciences in Ludwigshafen until 2023. The university has thus secured funding of 405,000 euros for the further development of its research focus on the central field of action "Transformation in the economy and society".

The Minister of Science gave Rhineland-Palatinate's universities a very good report based on impressive figures: "The state's universities are more dynamic, innovative and competitive than ever before, which has undoubtedly also been promoted by the state funds  provided by the research initiative for ten years." At the example of the Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences this development can be seen very clearly, because it has more than doubled the acquired third-party funds  in the last ten years and is at a remarkable level with about 2.9 million per year,  said the Minister.

"With this money, we will particularly support research initiatives at our university that target relevant project applications, while providing targeted material and human resources for our researchers," Mudra said, expressing his delight at securing the state funding for several years. The Presidential Representative for Research and Transfer, Prof. Dr. Marcus Sidki, emphasized the strong networking and interdisciplinarity of research within the university as well as with numerous external partners. The fact that the university has developed into a highly recognized scientific partner in recent years is also shown by the now consistently high number of cooperative doctorates that are jointly conducted with universities, he said. "The first of our doctoral students have now returned to the university as professors via successful appointment procedures after working in industry for several years," Sidki said. He added that offering concrete research support also makes the university an attractive employer for career practitioners with doctorates.

"Our approach to research is not just about the issue of third-party funding acquired, but also about the many and varied achievements that can be determined by scientific publications, as well as the aspiration to make the knowledge gained available to our students in a targeted manner in the area of education," says university president Mudra, emphasizing the educational relevance of research.
