Prof. Dr. Manoj A. Gupte, who has held a professorship for Business Administration, in particular International Management, at the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society (HWG LU) in Department I - Management, Controlling, HealthCare since 01.02.2024, officially arrived at the HWG LU with a ceremonial inaugural lecture on 30.04.2025 on the topic of "Open Strategy - On the way to more democracy in companies".
Prof. Gupte was welcomed by the Dean of Department I, Prof. Dr. Petra Weber-Dreßler, and the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Gunter Piller, who both praised his extensive international expertise and his commitment to education and research. The ceremony was attended by numerous guests, including Prof. Gupte's family - his parents, his wife, his two daughters and his sister - as well as his former fellow students, members of the university management, colleagues, students and the Department I team.
In his inaugural lecture, Prof. Gupte presented the basic principles of "Open Strategy", an innovative concept for opening up strategic decision-making processes in companies. The focus was on issues of diversity, transparency and participation, which are being addressed by an increasing number of companies. "Strategy must not remain a compartmentalized process in the boardroom," said Prof. Gupte. "Open, participatory strategy development not only strengthens innovation, but also the employees' identification with the company."
Prof. Gupte is responsible for the Departments of Management, Strategy and Sustainability at the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society. He teaches in German and English. He is also Head of the Business Administration Bachelor's degree program in International Management and is responsible for the re-accreditation of this degree program.
A particular highlight of his commitment is the international exchange and practical insights into other business cultures coupled with his understanding of sustainable business models.
