Since 2014 already Prof. Dr. Axel Kihm has been paying a teaching visit of several days to his Spanish partner university, the Universitat de Girona (UdG) (Fig. 1), which is located near the Catalonian capital Barcelona, almost every year as part of the Erasmus+ Higher Education (Teaching Staff) program. This cooperation with the Faculty of Economics of the UdG goes back to the ETAP network (European Taxation and Accounting in Practice); both the UdG and the Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences regularly participate with up to 10 students in the European Accoutancy Week (EAW) with up to 10 students.
From the common goal of making students more aware of international accounting according to IFRS, the idea arose to implement this directly through appropriate on-site courses. Therefore, Prof. Dr. Axel Kihm gives an introduction to accounting according to IFRS and analyzes a well-known Spanish company with the students on site in order to familiarize them with the technical vocabulary and common methods of analysis. To deepen this knowledge, he recommended together with Professor Morera Basuldo and Assistant Professor Maixenchs Miro (Fig. 2), who himself was a participant of EAW 2012 in Trier, to apply for EAW 2023. With a little luck, they will be able to experience the international and intercultural exchange at the Kortrijk campus of the VIVES University of Applied Sciences. That Girona itself is also worth a trip can be seen just by looking over the Plaza de la Independència (Fig. 3).
