Shortly before Christmas, the Association of Friends and Supporters of Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences received a completely unexpected gift: As part of a fundraising campaign for associations, the Sparkasse Vorderpfalz announced that it would also make a donation of 1,000 euros to the Association of Friends and Supporters of the University of Applied Sciences for its voluntary commitment. Yesterday, Tatjana Kamrad, Head of Human Resources Development and Training at Sparkasse Vorderpfalz, symbolically presented the corresponding donation check to University President Prof. Dr. Peter Mudra, also on behalf of Thomas Bull, Deputy Member of the Board of the Sparkasse.
"The Corona crisis does not stop also before the associations in our region. That is why the Sparkasse Vorderpfalz is donating a total of 125,000 euros to 166 associations and organizations from Ludwigshafen, Speyer and the Rhine-Palatinate district. The non-profit association "Freunde und Förderer der Hochschule Ludwigshafen am Rhein e.V." (Friends and Sponsors of the Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences) is also to benefit. As a regionally anchored savings bank under public law and supported by the local authorities, we are part of society and bear responsibility that goes beyond our banking business. Our funding is intended to help associations and organizations that have been affected in some way by the Corona pandemic and therefore need financial assistance. However, the donations are also intended to give continued encouragement to volunteers and civic-minded people: Especially now, with their commitment and willingness to help, they are an important pillar of our society," said Tatjana Kamrad.
University president Peter Mudra was very pleased about the financial support of the sponsoring association by the Sparkasse Vorderpfalz: "The association "Freunde und Förderer der Hochschule Ludwigshafen am Rhein e.V." (Friends and Sponsors of the Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences) helps the university to fulfill its educational mission and represents an important link between business and the university. In addition, the association supports outstanding students by awarding prizes for particularly high-caliber theses in the Bachelor's and Master's programs and by setting up an emergency fund for foreign students from non-EU countries who find themselves in financial difficulties through no fault of their own. Especially in the current difficult situation, the donation of the Sparkasse provides additional financial leeway for the Förderverein, for which we are very grateful," says Mudra.
