unternehmensWert:Mensch (uWM): Extension of the uMW and uWM Plus program branches and new program lines

Extension of the existing uMW and uWM Plus program branches and new program lines "Strengthened through the crisis" and "Women in Tech"

unternehmensWert:Mensch (uMW) is a nationwide funding program as part of the German government's skilled workers initiative that supports and advises small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the strategic development of their human resources policies. One of the uMW initial advisory centers for SMEs in Rhineland-Palatinate is the Institute for Innovation and Management (IMI) at the Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences, which provides information on the following innovations:

  • The duration of the existing program branches uWM and uWM Plus has been extended until Dec. 31, 2022.
  • The consulting program unternehmensWert:Mensch  is expanding its offering with immediate effect to include two new program branches: "Strengthened through the crisis" and "Women in Tech". In this way, the program will in future support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in overcoming two key challenges: positioning themselves in a crisis-proof manner in the wake of the COVID 19 pandemic and strengthening women in IT and tech professions.
  • Funding in the two new program branches is also available immediately after completing a consultation in the uWM or uWM Plus program branches. Feel free to contact us to learn more.
  • Consulting checks can still be issued until Aug. 31, 2022. All consulting processes must be completed by 30.11.2022.
  • The contact for interested companies in Rhineland-Palatinate is the Institute for Innovation and Management (IMI) at the Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences as the initial consulting point.

Further information on the program expansion:
With the program expansion, unternehmesWert:Mensch will in future support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in overcoming two central challenges: to position themselves in a crisis-proof manner in the wake of the COVID 19 pandemic and to strengthen women in IT and tech professions. In the following, we would like to introduce you to both offerings in more detail:

Strengthened through the crisis
The new program branch "Strengthened through the crisis" focuses on building and strengthening organizational resilience. In other words, companies are to be supported in establishing a resilient corporate culture that is prepared to innovate in order to cope well and sustainably with the COVID 19 pandemic and its consequences, but also to be better prepared for further crises. The pandemic not only accelerated the transformation of the world of work, it is continually changing it. Companies must and have had to react as quickly as possible to the far-reaching changes, such as contact restrictions and the relocation of the workplace to the home office, and develop and implement new concepts for time- and location-flexible working. It has been shown that many companies that were already digitally well positioned before the crisis had less difficulty adapting to the further changes. Nevertheless, many companies have been caught in one (or more) crises as a result of the pandemic.

With the funded consulting under the new program branch, SMEs are supported to improve their crisis management and to identify, help shape and establish the changes in work organization and corporate culture triggered by the Corona pandemic. The focus is on opportunities in virtual communication, remote workforce management, and home office solutions.

Women in Tech
The new program branch "Women in Tech" supports companies in the IT and tech industry in attracting women to the industry and retaining them in the long term. In this way, the program responds to the fact that women are still significantly underrepresented in a key future industry of digitization and that their employment relationships are less stable. This is often related to work culture aspects, stereotypical ideas and associated professional barriers.

This is precisely where "Women in Tech" comes in. In the program branch, SMEs are advised on how they can ensure more equal opportunities and set up their human resources management in a holistic diversity-oriented manner. This explicitly includes LGBTI*-oriented HR management (LGBTI stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and inter). The aim is to establish a diverse corporate culture - as part of a joint process with the workforce.

The program branches "Strengthened by the Crisis" and "Women in Tech" are supported by the program unternehmensWert:Mensch of the German Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and funded by the European Union as part of the Union's response to the COVID-19 pandemic (REACT-EU).
