Internship abroad

Internships abroad

An internship abroad offers foreign students the advantage that the 120 whole days or 240 half days rule does not apply. This means that you can complete an internship for a relatively long period of time, but only as long as your success in your studies is not impaired. For this purpose, the approval of the Foreigners' Registration Office is required. It checks whether and to what extent the studies could be endangered by stays abroad. Therefore, you have to inform yourself in advance at the responsible foreigners authority.

For internships abroad, a distinction is made between internships in the home country and internships in a country outside of Germany.

 Internship in the home country

It is also possible for foreign students to complete an internship in their home country. Useful information about internships in the home country as well as financial support is available for foreign students at STUBE.

STUBE is a study support program for students from Africa, Asia and Latin America  and has, among other things, the goal of promoting career-preparing internships and study stays in the home country. Further information can be found in the brochure "Funding Opportunities" and at http://www.stube-rps.de/.

Internships outside Germany

If you decide to do an internship outside Germany, the staff of the International Affairs Department will be happy to advise you. You can also find open internship positions abroad on the homepage of the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society.

Foreign students can also apply for an internship abroad within the framework of the support programs Eramus+ and Promos if they complete an internship outside of Germany.

Erasmus+ is a partial scholarship for internships abroad, financed by the European Union and supports students if they want to do an internship in another European country. German as well as international students can apply, provided they are duly enrolled at the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society and meet the eligibility requirements. These are, for example:

o   have good knowledge of the local language, or company language.

o   during the internship, the intern must live locally (no border crossers).

You can find out more about the details of the funding program here
