Graduation ceremony for part-time MBA degree programs: A celebration of diversity and education

Ludwigshafen. The 66 graduates of the German- and English-language part-time Master's degree programs radiated joy and a spirit of optimism. Around 250 guests, young and old, attended the graduation ceremony on June 28 at the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society (HWG LU). Families from Mexico, India and Morocco made the longest journey. Others traveled from all over Germany and the metropolitan area Rhine-Neckar.

Further training for a career
What they all have in common is that they have opted for further training to advance themselves and their careers without giving up their jobs. In addition to their jobs and everyday life, they have completed an MBA program (Master of Business Administration) at the HWG LU's continuing education institution, the Graduate School Rhine-Neckar (GSRN), which hosted the event, with self-discipline and commitment. International business administration, digital finance and accounting, the management of innovation, digitalization and IT, corporate management and logistics are the focus of the various distance and face-to-face courses, the content of which they were able to incorporate into their careers from the start of their studies. Some have even completed a double degree at Satakunta University in Rauma, Finland, at Hassan II University (ENCG) in Casablanca, Morocco or at Universum International College (UNI) in Prishtina, Kosovo.

Courageous, reflective and open-minded leaders
The ceremonial welcome from the President of the University, Gunther Piller, and the Managing Director of GSRN, Ralf Blasek, was full of recognition for the achievements of the professionals and their family and company supporters. The singing of graduate Truc Quynh Dang proved that hobbies are a good balance. Maria Morganti-Boux, who also completed the English-language MBA distance learning course in International Business Management, emphasized in her graduation speech that the course had not only imparted specialist knowledge, but also self-worth and stability when she lost her job in between and doubted herself. "This university created an environment in which trust could grow - across cultural, professional and geographical boundaries. And where there is trust, cooperation follows," she thanked and appealed to her fellow students to be courageous, reflective and open in taking responsibility and building bridges for a better future. In his keynote speech, Georg Fischer, coach for innovation and transformation, impressively illustrated how they can use their new knowledge efficiently. With cauliflower in hand, he explained neurobiological processes and pointed out possible biases.

About balancing acts and networking
After a break, the course directors honored the best students and presented them with certificates and small gifts. The Center for Distance Learning in the University Association (zfh) was also represented as a cooperation partner of the distance learning courses by Margot Klinkner, Deputy Managing Director. The lecturers were full of appreciation for the achievements of their graduates in view of the fast pace of today's professional life and changes in their lives such as births, relocations or job changes. Theresa Stark, graduate of the MBA Business Innovation Management program, spoke about the balancing act between work and studies in her speech. She said that the team spirit created by joint project work and evenings spent in Ludwigshafen had helped tremendously and that she saw this network as an often overlooked treasure of further education.

As a finale, all graduates took to the stage and threw their hats amid applause and confetti. They take away more than just certificates, but also "a worldwide network of resilient, courageous and closely connected people", summarizes Morganti-Boux, who now holds a position that she would not have thought possible before graduating. The graduation ceremony for the university's full-time degree courses will take place on July 11. Then there will be another celebration on campus.
