Klaus Tschira Foundation funds neuroeconomic research project: "Neurological foundations of the influence of forms of payment on purchasing behavior".
The Klaus Tschira Foundation has approved a research proposal by Prof. Dr. Gerhard Raab to fund a project in the field of neuroeconomics. The research project follows on from a research project that has already been funded for three years regarding the neurological causes of uncontrolled (impulsive) and pathological (addictive) purchasing behavior.
The subject of the research project, which is funded until 2014, is the investigation of the neurological or biopsychological basis of the influence of forms of payment on purchasing behavior. Within the framework of the research project, experimental investigations are carried out in simulated purchasing situations using functional magnetic resonance tomography (fMRI). The research project is carried out in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Christian Elger and Prof. Dr. Bernd Weber (University Hospital Bonn). The research project is based, among other things, on the research projects that have been carried out for years at Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences in the field of behavioral economics or business psychology with regard to the self-control ability of consumers, the neurological causes of impulsive and pathological buying behavior, the development of this behavior and the influence of forms of payment on buying behavior.
