Social work degree program

A close integration of theory and practice is characteristic of the Bachelor of Social Work program at the Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences. Students in this program complete a full-time internship semester (with a minimum duration of 20 weeks) in a social work field in the fifth semester. In this way, students get to know a selected field of work as an example and have the opportunity to transfer theoretical insights as well as to recognize and examine their own professional role in the encounter with the addressees. It also guarantees them the reflected application of acquired skills and abilities. The insight into professional practice allows the students to get to know and reflect on the working conditions in social work institutions and to gain experience with the possibilities and limits of social work and social pedagogy.

The academic monitoring and evaluation of the practical phase takes place on the one hand on study support days and in supervisions, which take place once a month during the practical semester at the university. On the other hand, the practical semester is embedded in preparatory, accompanying and follow-up courses of a previously individually selected study focus. Students can currently choose from a range of eight specializations. The specialization program extends from the fourth to the end of the seventh semester.

In addition to the academic degree "Bachelor of Arts", graduates receive state recognition as a social worker (B.A.) or social pedagogue (B.A.).

In the following you will find important information about the major studies and the internship semester. In the guidelines for the major studies you will find, among other things, the descriptions of the individual majors, the legal basis for the internship semester, as well as information about the internship semester process. You will also find the current schedules on this page as well as the form sets, which include, among other things, the training agreement for the practical study semester. These are also available in English, e.g. for an internship abroad.<x-cl>  </x-cl>
