International Business Administration and Information Technology (IBAIT) is a dual, internationally oriented Bachelor's degree program with a strong practical focus. In six semesters, students earn a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) with 210 ECTS credits. The course combines business content with modern IT skills and is carried out in close cooperation with partner companies.

As part of the Business and International Programs (BIP), IBAIT offers a practice-oriented education, international experience and excellent career prospects - especially at the interface between management and technology.

Content & procedure

Dual. Digital. Global.

The IBAIT degree program follows a clear alternation between theoretical phases at the university and practical assignments at the company. This creates a holistic understanding of operational processes and digital transformation and development processes.

Semester structure at a glance

  • Start: Every year on August 1 with a two-month introductory phase at the partner company
  • Theory phases: Study in small groups with a focus on business informatics, programming, information management, ERP systems, process modeling and business fundamentals
  • Practical phases: Work in IT-related departments - e.g. software development, consulting, data analysis, support or project management
  • Semester abroad (after the 4th semester): Study visit to Tongji University Shanghai, followed by possible project work in a subsidiary of the partner company in China
  • Degree: Bachelor of Science (210 ECTS)

The integrated stays abroad in Shanghai are a central element of the IBAIT program. After an intensive study phase at the renowned Tongji University, students can work on challenging IT projects in local branches, depending on the partner company.

  • Foreign language skills are promoted to accompany the specialist studies - particularly in English and Chinese, but also beyond.

Who is suitable for the IBA program?

The IBAIT program is aimed at performance-oriented, cosmopolitan applicants who think internationally about business and technology and want to study with a practical orientation right from the start.

What you should bring with you:

  • General higher education entrance qualification or entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences (incl. examination of additional requirements if necessary)
  • Interest in international business issues and computer science
  • Team spirit, independence and enjoyment of intercultural exchange
  • Willingness to learn and work in a demanding intensive study program

The application process - how it works

As this is a dual study program, you do not apply via the university, but directly to one of our partner companies.

5 steps to a study place:

  1. Choose a company
    Research suitable BIP partner companies from the current overview.
  2. Submit your application
    Apply early - ideally one year before the start of your studies - to the desired company.
  3. Go through the company selection process
    Depending on the partner company, you can expect job interviews, online tests or assessment centers, for example.
  4. Receive a training contract
    If you are successfully selected, you will sign a training contract with the partner company.
  5. Enrollment at the university
    The university will be informed by the company and will then contact you. Online registration is required for enrollment.
