Dear first-year students, we look forward to welcoming you to our degree programs. To get you off to a good start, we recommend that you take part in the induction week.
Make sure you bring a laptop with you to the PC driving license. You will also need the laptop for other courses and examinations.
Tablets and cell phones are not suitable for this purpose.
For online lectures, participation with a camera is usual! If online examinations take place, the use of a camera is mandatory.
Plan of the introductory week IHRM
Good technical equipment is indispensable for the course. Due to the current situation, many lectures will take place hybrid, in presence and virtual, .
Equipment for the study: EA notebook or a functioning PC as well as a stable internet connection are indispensable for studying.
For online lectures, participation with a camera is highly desirable! If online examinations take place, the use of a camera is obligatory. Therefore, it is advisable to purchase one.

Students can receive discounts for both hardware and software.Information on this has been provided under IT Service Center / Worth knowing .
It is not necessary to purchase books and other literature prior to the start of the program. All lecturers inform about necessary materials in their lectures or use the e-learning platform OLAT. Lecture materials such as scripts and recommended readings are provided there.
All important information will be provided during the introductory lecture.
Newly enrolled students also receive an intensive introduction to library research during their first semester. In addition to its constantly expanding range of books and e-books, the library has numerous specialist journals in printed and electronic form, daily newspapers and important specialist databases available for use. Propaedeutic
The central freshman welcome is offered every semester on Mondays, one week before the start of lectures. After the university is introduced, a guided tour of the various university buildings takes place. Afterwards, the newly enrolled students have the opportunity to get to know Ludwigshafen during a city tour.
In addition to the central first-semester welcome, we also offer a course-specific propaedeutic course course of study. Here, newly enrolled students receive all important information about studying as well as an introduction to all important university systems. Teachers introduce themselves and students get to know their own study group. Team processes and team building are to be initiated and integrated into everyday study life.

University portal
The administration of the data of the students and lecture courses of our university is done with a software of the company Hochschul-Informations-System GmbH (HIS) located in Hannover. There, all relevant information about their student career (address, application data, study selection, examination history, ...) is linked to the study programs offered by our university (courses, lecturers, room planning, ...). The software is also operated there for us by the manufacturer.
You will find direct access to the university portal on our website under the heading SERVICE \ Hochschulportal.
There you will also find more detailed information. Your account in this system is not linked to any other account here at the university.
