Master's degree done. After that there are no more obligations regarding the place of study. Usually it is like that. For students who are studying the MBA “General and International Management” course with us, there is another highlight in the USA.
It has become a tradition that as part of the final course, students in Pensacola, Florida are ceremonially awarded honorary citizenship by the mayor of the city of Pensacola. Due to the pandemic, Melissa Brode, Deputy Dean and Director of the Graduate Programs of the UWF College of Business, opened the ceremony on August 10, 2021 via Zoom. Grover C. Robinson, acting mayor since 2018, outlined different sides of the historic city of Pensacola. The mayor then congratulated the students on their graduation and initially handed over the "certificate of honor" virtually.
Honorary citizenship of the city of Pensacola was awarded to Michelle Braddy, Patrick Goth, Dominik Knies, Julia Lieder, Marcel Scholter, Sarah Starck and Jana Steinacker. The mayor warmly invited everyone to see this as a small obligation to visit Pensacola at least once again and to visit all the sights mentioned. The certificates and other souvenirs of this special time will reach the graduates in the next few days. The Transatlantic Institute and the alumni are delighted with the special award, which can also be seen as a sign of international understanding and German-American friendship. A graduation ceremony is also planned for the graduates at Edesheim Palace in Palatinate, to which the professors from Pensacola will also be virtually connected.
