A piece of lived internationalization at the HWG LU: For the first time, four students from Katowice University of Economics are spending their semester abroad on the Master's degree program in Finance & Accounting at the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society. The students - Julia Nowak, Michal Kocur, Jakub Conrad & Caroline Fok - are the first participants in the new double-degree program between the two universities, laying the foundation for an intensive academic exchange.
The launch of the program was accompanied by the visit of Rafał Buła, Ph.D. from the University of Economics in Katowice (Faculty of Finance, Department of Investment), who was visiting HWG LU as part of the ERASMUS Teacher Mobility (STA). In guest lectures, he introduced the first-year Master's students to the world of derivatives and informed them about the possibilities of a double degree course in Poland. Unfortunately, Prof. Dr. hab. Monika Foltyn-Zarychta, who was instrumental in setting up the cooperation, was unable to travel to Ludwigshafen due to illness.
"Our students benefit enormously from the international perspectives and practical expertise of our partner universities," emphasized Prof. Dr. Gösta Jamin, Head of the Master's in Finance & Accounting. "At the same time, it's great to see how the collaboration with Katowice is coming to life."
The visit week concluded with a celebratory dinner with Dean Prof. Dr. Birgit Angermayer, Prof. Dr. Gösta Jamin, Alexandra Ege from the International Office and Christiane Weinerth, Program Manager of the Master's in Finance & Accounting, and the students and guests from Poland.
They are delighted with the successful start - and are already looking ahead: the first German Master's students could also spend their double degree semester at Katowice University of Economics in the winter semester of 2026/27.
"Our cooperation is beginning to bear fruit - and it continues to grow," says Prof. Dr. Jamin. "This is a win-win situation for both sides."
