Minister President Malu Dreyer: "The Wine Campus is a model of success!"
Around 200 guests came to the Weincampus Neustadt on Monday afternoon to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the academic institution. "As Germany's first dual study program in viticulture and oenology, the Weincampus Neustadt is now an absolute success model," emphasized Minister President Malu Dreyer during her address, congratulating the Weincampus Neustadt on the establishment of the new German-French master's program.
Among the well-wishers was also the former Minister President of Rhineland-Palatinate Kurt Beck. He had launched the project "Weincampus Neustadt" 10 years ago. It was therefore a matter of the heart for him to congratulate the wine campus on its anniversary, Beck said on Monday. The mayor of Neustadt Marc Weigel also conveyed his congratulations and described the wine campus "as a plant that we want to continue to make blossom together."
As a representative of the three universities involved in the Wine Campus, Prof. Dr. Peter Mudra, President of the Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences, congratulated and praised the Wine Campus as a "force field of wine sciences." The expertise of three universities combined with the industry knowledge and infrastructure of the Dienstleistungszentrum Ländlicher Raum Rheinpfalz (DLR Rheinpfalz) enables a transfer of knowledge with a high level of practical relevance, said Mudra. Since its founding in 2009, the dual course of study in viticulture and oenology in Rhineland-Palatinate has developed into a prestigious and showcase project of dual education policy, he added.
One focus of the festivities on Monday was on the topic of "Wine Campus International". The reason for this was the recent launch of the new master's degree program in viticulture and oenology. The Neustadt wine campus will offer the dual master's program Franco-AllemandViticultureet Oenologie(FAVO) together with the Faculté de Marketing et d'Agrosciences of the Université de Haute-Alsacein Colmar starting in September 2020. Students will learn the German and French aspects of oenology in German and in French at both locations and spend parts of the four-semester study program in cooperating companies in both Rhineland-Palatinate and Alsace. The language skills required for binational studies are taught in the master's program. Minister President Malu Dreyer welcomed this decision, saying, "Where, if not here, is the right place to launch a Franco-German degree program."
At the end of the event, former student and Palatinate Wine Queen Inga Storck, together with MBA student Pauline Baumberger, presented the new anniversary wine NEO. The new wine line includes a total of three wines: a NEO Riesling, a NEO Pinot Blanc and a NEO WIEEINPORT.
