New course offering with unique selling points: Bachelor's degree program in Business Psychology to start in winter semester 2023/2024

In September 2023, the bachelor's degree program in Business Psychology will start at HWG LU. Prospective students can apply for a study place from the end of May until mid-July.

In September 2023, a new study program will start at the Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences (HWG LU) with the Bachelor's degree program in Business Psychology (B. Sc.). In six semesters, the program combines a solid education in economics with application-oriented psychological knowledge and comprehensive methodological training. In the 5th semester, students can expect a semester abroad or an internship. In addition, they have access to the university's behavioral science laboratory with its diverse experimental possibilities and high-performance technology. The program concludes with a Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) degree. Prospective students can apply from the end of May until mid-July 2023 for the winter semester 2023/2024.

"According to our observation, business psychologists are currently in great demand on the market, also and especially in the economic powerhouse of the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. In the surrounding area, however, there are so far only private universities that offer business psychology in return for not inconsiderable tuition fees. We are therefore the first state university in Rhineland-Palatinate to offer the subject of business psychology. This gives us a clear unique selling point in the region, and we also have a great deal of scientific expertise in-house thanks to our long-standing research focus on consumer behavior and neuroeconomics," says a delighted Prof. Dr. Klaus Blettner, Dean of the Department of Marketing and Human Resource Management, where the Business Psychology course will be based in the future. "In addition to practical relevance, our offering focuses on the areas of marketing and personnel psychology, supplemented by organizational psychology, in line with the set-up of our department. Our future graduates thus have a broad range of applications and very good chances of starting their careers quickly," adds Prof. Dr. Gerhard Raab, acting head of the program and head of the behavioral science research laboratory.

Business psychologists have a wide range of job opportunities in companies, organizations and agencies. For example, the entire spectrum in the human resources or marketing field is open to graduates. This includes personnel selection and personnel development, but also organizational development with the topics of change management and communication. Furthermore, trained business psychologists are in great demand in media companies such as marketing and advertising agencies and in market and opinion research.

Prospective students should have an Abitur or Fachhochschulreife, an interest in economic contexts and psychology, and enthusiasm for the question of how human behavior can be recorded, analyzed and explained in economic contexts.
