The Association of Friends and Sponsors of Ludwigshafen University has made a virtue out of necessity. While alumni events are usually held twice a year, this has not been possible in the last year and a half. Therefore, in May, the association invited alumni, friends and supporters of HWG LU to an online wine tasting.
Due to the connection to the Neustadt wine campus , it was quickly clear in advance who was to conduct the tasting. And not only that - the colleagues from Neustadt were also very involved in the conception and preparation of the event and made sure that over 30 participants received a package with six tasting bottles and accompanying information in advance.
The wine tasting itself was led by Prof. Dominik Durner, who also took the opportunity to briefly introduce the wine campus that evening. Three Palatinate white and three Palatinate red wines, each from the NEO line of the wine campus or from the neighboring Neustadt State Winery, were then tasted. Under Durer's expert guidance, the participants experienced unimagined aromas, and along the way, the alumni and those associated with the university learned many interesting facts about wine and grape varieties. Altogether a completely successful meeting, which opened for the first time also Alumni outside of the region the possibility of keeping contact to its old university, as a participant from Bonn noted contently.
