On November 10, universities and colleges from Rhineland-Palatinate came together at the invitation of State Secretary Heike Raab at the third Rwanda Network Meeting in the State Chancellery in Mainz. The HWG LU was also represented.
The press release issued by the State Chancellery on 11.11.2025 states that
"Science thrives on joint thinking and research. This is precisely what university cooperation with Rwanda creates a valuable space for: for innovations in the field of sustainable development and for modern educational pathways that are accessible to all," said State Secretary Heike Raab, Plenipotentiary to the Federal Government and for Europe and the Media, on the occasion of the third Rwanda network meeting of Rhineland-Palatinate universities and colleges. This academic cooperation goes beyond "traditional development aid". There are currently partnerships between 12 universities and colleges in Rhineland-Palatinate. Departments such as ethnology, geography, architecture, biotechnology and economics are involved. The collaborations include joint research projects, student and teacher exchanges and the development of joint degree programs. This year, for example, Minister President Alexander Schweitzer welcomed Rwandan students who completed an internship at Rhineland-Palatinate pharmaceutical companies as part of their biotechnology studies "BioMex". Numerous professors, lecturers, managing directors and project staff are taking part in this year's Rwanda network meeting and are committed to the Rhineland-Palatinate and Rwanda partnership.
"Joint research projects, student exchanges and continuing education programs build bridges between young people and between ideas that shape this partnership. I would like to expressly thank you today: for your commitment, your expertise and your willingness to keep exploring new avenues," said State Secretary Heike Raab.

Activities of the HWG LU with the Ruli Higher Institute of Health:
As part of the network meeting, the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society (HWG LU) presented its cooperation with the Ruli Higher Institute of Health (RHIH) in the field of midwifery science. The partnership responds to key challenges in Rwanda, in particular the increasing demand for qualified midwives and the expansion of teaching capacities. Both institutions are jointly developing training programs, strengthening mother-child health and promoting scientific exchange. This includes teacher and student exchanges as part of Erasmus+, the ASA University project to compare birthing cultures and an application currently in preparation for capacity development in simulation-based education. The cooperation shows how practice-oriented research, peer-to-peer learning and international knowledge transfer contribute to strengthening sustainable healthcare and bring the university partnership between Rhineland-Palatinate and Rwanda to life.
