Weincampus Neustadt presents innovations in education and research to an international audience

From March 10 to 12, 2024, the Weincampus Neustadt presented itself at ProWein in Düsseldorf. The world's largest wine trade fair is a platform for many national and international wine producers to establish and maintain trade relations. The innovative topics of the Weincampus, which are reflected in the range of courses on offer and in research, met with great interest.

"Our exhibition stand attracted numerous visitors from all over the world during the three days of ProWein ," said Prof. Dr. Dominik Durner. "Above all, we impressed visitors with the practical relevance of our degree programs - even far beyond Germany's borders." The English-language MBA degree programs in "Wine, Sustainability and Sales" are the perfect option for further education for experts who have both feet on the ground. "Most of the consultations began with a discussion about the challenges and future of the wine industry. In the course of the discussions, we were able to determine that our MBA provides the right answers and orientation for the managers' questions ," says MBA course director Prof. Dr. Marc Dreßler.

Studying at the Weincampus means experiencing wine with maximum practical relevance. The dual bachelor's program teaches the relevant content in viticulture and oenology. In the subsequent Master's degree course in Viticulture and Oenology, the focus is on scientific and international skills that are educated on the topics of climate change, environmental protection and resource conservation in the field of tension with technological development, digitalization and artificial intelligence.

Visitors to the Weincampus stand were given valuable insights into the EIP innovation project"Wein-Mehrweg", which is establishing returnable glass systems for 0.75L wine bottles. The countless bottle models on a large shelf at the stand attracted attention and highlighted the challenge of standardized bottles. A survey conducted directly at the stand determined the preferred bottle models for reusable systems among producers, restaurateurs and specialist retailers.

The Weincampus stand was a place of exchange and networking during the three days of the trade fair. In the Talk & Taste Sessions, a series of lectures developed by the Weincampus, Weingut Schweder in Hochstadt, Weingut Rummel in Landau-Nussdorf, Weingut Schloss Proschwitz in Meißen, Wein- und Sektgut Bamberger von der Nahe and Staatsweingut mit Johannitergut presented their innovative products. Prof. Dr. Dominik Durner sums up: "The Talk & Taste Sessions are a key element of our ProWein presentation. In the spectrum of innovative topics that are dealt with and practiced on a daily basis at the Weincampus, we are in close contact with practitioners. We live this symbiosis of science and practice and are delighted about the great interest in the Neustadt Wine Campus."
