Application procedure for a semester abroad at a partner university

If you would like to apply for a semester abroad at one of our partner universities worldwide, you will find all deadlines, documents to be submitted and instructions on how to apply in our online application portal on this page.

Application deadlines for the semester abroad

15.01. for the following winter semester
01.07. for the following summer semester

Documents to be submitted

  1. online application form printed and signed by you
  2. Curriculum vitae ( in English)
  3. Letter of motivation (in English), for your 1st priority university, outlining your study plans and reasons for studying abroad (approx. 1 page). Students of IBM (East Asia) programs please submit for all desired universities and a letter of motivation. The form can be found in the olat course of your study program, please upload it there after filling it out.
  4. current transcript of grades with all exam registrations (from the university portal) Students of Master programs please also a copy of the  Bachelor - certificate
  5. course approval(s) of the course of study
  6. Proof of your knowledge of the language of instruction on level B2 or C1, issued by HWG Ludwigshafen or another university in Germany; in exceptional cases also a TOEFL test. You can find more information on the corresponding pages of our partner universities

Please submit these documents only 1 time.

Online application procedure

Please read the application procedure carefully before you start and send all your documents via email to me; originals in paper form are no longer required.

General technical requirements

1. the system only accepts email addresses that contain only lowercase letters and are not Microsoft addresses, e.g. outlook, hotmail, live
2. the online application has been optimized for Microsoft Internet Explorer version 8 or higher and Firefox 5 or higher. We cannot guarantee that the application will work properly with other browsers. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to print the application form. Adobe Acrobat Reader should be installed before starting the application process and can be downloaded here(Download Adobe Acrobat Reader).

Online Application

1. please fill out the online application (Attention: no applications will be considered after the application deadline!). Please fill in all fields of the form; the fields marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory.

After you have filled out the form, you can either send the application directly or save it and continue working on it at a later time. Once you have completed all the fields, please check all the data one last time and then click on the "send" button; this will transfer all your data to us.
You can apply for a total of 3 partner universities with one application - please do not send multiple applications for different universities; if you want to apply for more than 3 partner universities, you can add this later by hand on your application form.

2. after you have sent the application, please click on the link "Download application form (PDF)" and print the form.
If you have problems at the end e.g. with generating and printing the pdf file, please check if you are using the latest version of the browser and clear the cache if necessary.

Access to the application portals/application forms

The loginon the page that applies to you is done with your campus account (as with olat, your PC login etc).
