Prof. Dr. Karen Wagels and Prof. Dr. Jörg Reitzig are involved in the Hans Böckler Foundation

At this year's conference of the Hans Böckler Foundation 's liaison lecturers, Prof. Dr. Karen Wagels (Co-Head of the Bachelor's degree course in Social Work) and Prof. Dr. Jörg Reitzig (Head of the Master's degree course in Social Work) were elected as members of various Foundation committees. Prof. Wagels represents the teaching staff on the selection committee for the awarding of scholarships in the area of higher education and second-chance education. Prof. Reitzig ran again for the selection committee for awarding doctoral scholarships, of which he has been a member since 2023.

This year's liaison lecturers' conference took place in Dortmund from October 24 to 26. The Hans Böckler Foundation, which is affiliated with the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB), supports students and doctoral candidates at universities and colleges with trade union or socio-political commitment and above-average performance. More than 70 percent of its approximately 2,600 scholarship holders are the first in their family to study, and around 40 percent have a migration background. One in four scholarship holders obtained their qualification for university entrance via the second or third educational pathway.
