Password support

With your university account you log in to the most important university services, such as WLAN, OpenOLAT, HIS portals, VPN, WebMail and pool computers.

Therefore, we have compiled the most important information for you in order to be able to offer you quick help in case of problems.

  • Password must be case sensitive.
  • Must be at least 12 characters long.
  • Must contain at least 1 letter.
  • Must contain at least 1 number.
  • Must not contain more than 5 numbers.
  • Must contain at least 1 symbol character (non-alphanumeric character).
  • Must not contain a character repeated more than 2 times in a row.
  • Must not contain any of the following values: hwglu fb1 fb3 fb2 fb4 hwg-lu
  • Must not contain any part of your name or username.
  • Must not contain a common word or string.
  • Must contain at least 3 of the following character types:
    • Upper case letters (A-Z)
    • Lowercase letters (a-z)
    • Numbers (0-9)
    • Symbols (!, #, $, etc.)
    • Other language characters not listed above

Visit our password self-service and select the function "Forgot your password? Enter your login name and go to "Search".
You will get a mail to your deposited e-mail account. use the link or copy the code. now you can set your new password.

If you no longer have access to the password reset email address, we can reset your password manually.

To do this, you can come in person to one of the support offices with a photo ID, or send us a copy of the ID via the ticket system .

For security reasons, passwords expire at the university. To be able to use your account again, please log in to our password self-service. If your password has expired, you will be notified directly and can set a new password.
