2021 Alumni Scholarship Award Ceremony at the East Asia Institute

On July 16, 2021, the Association for the Promotion of the East Asia Institute (Verein zur Förderung des Ostasieninstituts e.V.) awarded the Alumni Scholarship 2021 for the first time to a total of four scholarship holders of the East Asia Institute of the Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences. This year, the scholarship, which is mainly financed by donations from OAI Alumni, went to Svenja Greiwe and Fabian Mönsters (both focus on China), Caroline Tille (focus on Japan) and Lea Boehmig (focus on Korea). All of them are currently in their 4th semester of the International Business Management (East Asia) program.

A total of €5,350 in donations was received, including €3,300 from an anonymous major donor alone. The sponsoring association supplemented the sum with a further € 250 from association funds, bringing the total amount awarded in 2021 to € 5,600. The two scholarships for China are endowed with 1,650 € each, those for Japan and Korea with 1,150 €. (The difference in the amounts results from the desired earmarking of donations for individual foci).

The East Asia Institute would like to thank the Friends of the Institute for their commitment to providing scholarships for the top students in their year. The generosity of their donors makes it possible to at least partially compensate for the Haniel scholarship, which has unfortunately been eliminated.

Our congratulations go out to the four scholarship recipients, who will hopefully begin their year abroad this fall.
