Two academic institutions are currently associated with the Department. The Social Work Research Center "Stadt Land Quartier" was founded in 2020 by lecturers and assistants from the Department of Social Work.

In addition, the Health Research Network was established in 2015 to pool expertise and resources in the field of health across the university.
