Guest lecture: Successful personnel marketing of German air traffic control

As part of the lectures "Recruiting and Marketing" by Prof. Dr. Stephan Weinert in the third semester, a guest lecture by Ms. Christine Wüst took place on June 14. Ms. Wüst is Head of Human Resources Strategy at DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH (DFS) in Langen and a former student of Ludwigshafen University.

At the beginning of her presentation, Ms. Wüst introduced DFS, which is a company under private law owned by the German government and responsible for air traffic control in Germany.

The personnel marketing of DFS mainly refers to the target group of high school graduates in order to inspire young people to become air traffic controllers, but DFS also offers other exciting dual degree programs and entry-level opportunities in the areas of administration, engineering and IT.

In her presentation, Ms. Wüst gave the students an exciting insight into the current personnel marketing measures. The target group of DFS is 16-24 year olds, who are mainly recruited through the internet or personal contacts. DFS uses numerous online and social media channels, as well as face-to-face encounters and out-of-home/print measures for external personnel marketing.

The successes of personnel marketing are impressive! They can be seen not least in the significant increase in the number of applications in recent years.

The lecture showed the students what role successful, modern personnel marketing can play in a rather traditional company.

Finally, Ms. Wüst answered questions about DFS, her experience in human resources strategy and her personal vita.

We would like to thank Ms. Wüst for a highly interesting and entertaining insight into human resources marketing at DFS!
