Hi, my name is Alen Islami. As a student of the International Business Administration degree programs at HWG LU and a working student at the elections research group that works for ZDF, I have learned that votes count. When decision-making processes are transparent. When participation is not just the sound of words, but real involvement. I am running for the Senate because I no longer want to just watch. I want to help shape things - with you, for you. I want our university to not only exist, but to come alive: with ideas, with courage, with change. Because we are not just consumers of education - we are co-creators of the future of our great university!
What I want to change at the university
I would like to change at the university:
Firstly, above all, more investment in student initiatives! (Green Campus, Hedge Fund Clubs, Political Debating Clubs, IT Clubs, etc.) Interests must be promoted more strongly! On the other hand, I am committed to establishing a "practice network" at HWG LU, which bundles regional companies, start-ups and organizations and networks them specifically with Departments. At the same time, I want to continue to excessively promote the right path towards a sustainable campus. For example, with a "Second-Hand Hub", where students can hand in their old laptops and they will be made available to other students free of charge/at low cost. And many more ideas ...

I would like to be a member of the Faculty Council and the Senate to represent the interests of students. Students should be able to make suggestions and provide feedback and I would like to represent these in the committees. The direct exchange with lecturers should be strengthened.

I would like to be involved in the Student Senate because the interests and needs of my fellow students are close to my heart. As part of the Senate, I have the opportunity to actively participate in decisions that affect our everyday student life and our future. It is important to me to promote transparency, strengthen communication between students and university management and develop constructive solutions to current challenges. By getting involved in the Senate, I can help to ensure that our voices are heard and that we achieve positive change together.

I would like to be involved in the Senate to make the university fit for the future. My goal is to promote the integration of AI in education and administration - for example through intelligent learning assistants and the introduction of a platform where students can share knowledge and tips from higher semesters. This is how we promote innovation, networking and modern learning.

Why I would like to stand for election
to stand for election:
I would like to get involved to actively represent the interests of students and help shape the further development of our university. It is important to me that students are involved in decision-making processes and that their perspectives are heard. Thanks to my degree in International Management and my practical experience in project management and HR, I have a talent for organization, a sense of responsibility and ambition. I would like to use these skills to actively shape the work of the Senate in a solution-oriented way.

  • I would like to improve communication between students, teaching staff and administration and promote exchange across faculty boundaries.
  • Another important point for me is the responsible use of artificial intelligence in my studies. We students should move with the times and learn to use AI critically and competently as a useful tool.

to stand for election:
I want to play an active role in ensuring that students' voices are heard and that we continue to develop our university together. As a committed, communicative and responsible person, it is important to me to build bridges between students, teaching staff and the administration. It is particularly important to me that decisions are made transparently and that we students are more involved in processes. Through my previous experience at university and my work in HR at SAP, I have developed a good sense of where challenges lie and how they can be tackled constructively.

  • More visibility and promotion of cultural diversity and intercultural encounters on campus.
  • Longer opening hours and more retreats in the library for flexible study times and a place where you feel comfortable.
  • More say for students on issues that directly affect their day-to-day studies.
  • More open communication between students, lecturers and administration to resolve issues more quickly and directly.
  • A university that not only imparts knowledge, but also strengthens community and cohesion.

In the past year, I have already been able to actively participate as a member of the Senate and the Faculty Council. Why I would like to stand for election
for election:
I am running for senator again because the interests of our students are powerfully represented. Our Department of Social Affairs & Health deserves a clear voice in the university committees that takes action. I want to ensure that our concerns continue to be addressed and critically examined.
What I want to change at the university
I would like to change at the university:
I want to advocate for us as students from all Departments to have a common room, which we deserve. The university should also be a community-giving space. Another pressing issue is the acute lack of affordable housing in Ludwigshafen. Despite many discussions, there has been little progress so far. Together with other Departments, I want to work on a well thought-out plan that puts pressure on Studierendenwerk Vorderpfalz and makes clear, realistic demands.
