Data protection information FAQ
Why was I invited to the interview?
Universities are required by law to involve students and graduates in quality assurance and development and to obtain feedback for this purpose. This is realized through surveys or feedback interviews, among other things. The results of the quantitative surveys are only used in the context of quality development of the degree programs or programs at the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society and for research purposes.
Personal data
The personal data collected during the survey is necessary for a meaningful analysis of the results, e.g. to calculate group differences and check the representativeness of the data. Personal data includes age, gender, marital status, educational background and socio-economic background. The questionnaire is designed in such a way that conclusions about individual persons are excluded as far as possible. If, however, in exceptional cases, it is theoretically possible to draw conclusions about individual persons from the combination of several individual pieces of information, this is prevented by the following precautions: The data record is only stored and processed by persons who do not have access to the student database. This means that it is not possible to establish a link to an individual respondent.
When contacting respondents, it is necessary to use their surname, first name, degree programs and email address (for online-only surveys) or postal address (for paper surveys or invitations by letter). The personal data is stored in encrypted form and deleted after the end of the survey.
As part of the graduate survey, only those persons who have not objected to the use of their data for survey purposes will be contacted. If you wish to object to the use of your contact details for quality assurance purposes, you can do so at any time in writing, by e-mail or post to the following address: University of Applied Sciences Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Evaluation Officer, Ernst-Boehe-Str.4, 67059 Ludwigshafen am Rhein: evaluation.hwg-lu@hwg-lu.de
The Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society, Ernst-Boehe-Straße 4, 67059 Ludwigshafen, represented by the President Prof. Dr. Gunther Piller, isresponsible for processing your data.
What is the link in the "TAN procedure" for?
The link in the TAN procedure makes it possible to register your participation in the survey without knowing your personal data in order to avoid having to write to you again as part of the follow-up campaigns and to be able to check the response rate. The TAN is randomly generated in the survey system (EvaSys) and randomly assigned by the sender. It serves as the basis for logging in to the survey. This ensures that only people from the random sample can take part in the survey. Personal data (names, address data) and survey results cannot be assigned by the TAN, as the TAN is not recorded in the data set of the survey data and therefore cannot be assigned to a person.
What happens to the results of the survey?
Degree the survey phase, the survey data will be statistically analyzed. The results are only used in the context of your university's quality assurance and development as well as research and serve as important information for the subjects and Departments or the projects for further development and optimization. The evaluations are anonymous and do not allow any conclusions to be drawn about your person.
The data is stored for at least 10 years, as it serves as a basis for comparison for future surveys. After 10 years at the latest, the respective evaluation officer must check whether the stored data is still required for evaluation purposes.
Details on our internal data protection regulations for evaluations can be found in §3 of the evaluation regulations. https://www.hwg-lu.de/fileadmin/user_upload/service/studium-und-lehre/qualitaetsmanagement/Evaluationsordnung_2016.pdf
How can I have my data checked or deleted?
You can withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal data at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal. You can declare your revocation in writing or by e-mail. If you wish to check which personal data has been stored or if you wish to have this data changed, corrected or deleted, the procedure depends on the type of data:
- For contact details: Please contact the person from whom you received the invitation letter. This person can provide you with information about the stored contact data during the period of the survey and - if you wish - delete it.
- For the survey data: If you have already sent the answers to the survey, the answers to the survey can no longer be deleted or changed, as the survey is anonymous. If you do not wish to provide any personal data, you have the option of not completing the answers in the questionnaire.
If you have any questions about data protection, please contact the university's data protection officer(datenschutz@ 8< SPAM protection, please remove >8 hwg-lu.de, tel. -175). You have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your personal data violates the law. The competent supervisory authority is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Rhineland-Palatinate, Postfach 30 40, 55020 Mainz, phone: +49 (0) 6131 208-2449.
