Application with previous studies: This is how it works...
Have you already studied and would like to switch to us or change your subject internally? You can find all the details about the application procedures here.
For all
Please note that technically you always apply for the 1st semester (FS) in the online portal first.
Bachelor's degree programs full-time
Examination for placement in a higher semester:
Irrespective of whether you wish to change university or subject, you must submit a "Declaration for examination of placement in a higher semester" as part of your application in order to be admitted to a higher semester.
- Automatic examination: If you were already enrolled in the same degree programs (same subject and degree identical), the examination/classification will be carried out without submitting a separate declaration, in the continuing semester (provided this is still offered).
- Documents: Please submit all required documents for the examination. The classification is made on the basis of the recognizable achievements from previous periods of study. The result will be displayed in the application portal.
- Examination: Only achievements already completed/assessed will be taken into consideration.
⚠️ Note: Once you have submitted your application, it is no longer possible to make any subsequent changes. Therefore, please check your details carefully!
Special feature for new degree programs
(Here you are applying for a new degree program!)
For all new degree programs starting from winter semester 26/27, it is not possible to be placed in a higher FS.
Exception: If you were enrolled in the previous degree program and would like to continue your studies in the previous degree program after an interruption, please submit the "Declaration for consideration of placement in a higher semester".
We strongly recommend that you seek advice from the Program Manager of the respective degree programs:
- Business Administration - International Management (B.Sc.)
- Business Administration - Management, Controlling and Information (B.Sc.)
- Business Administration with a focus on Taxation and Auditing (B.A.)
Special feature of the new examination regulations
(This is a PO change!)
For all degree programs that offer new examination regulations from WS 26/27, an application is not required.
We strongly recommend that you seek advice from the program manager of the respective degree programs:
- Business Administration with a focus on Finance (B.A.)
- Business Administration with a focus on Logistics (B.A.)
- Business Informatics (B.Sc.)
- Social Work (B.A.)
Master's degree programs
These regulations do not apply to Master's degree programs. Please contact the relevant program managers directly in the Department of the respective degree programs for information on the recognition of prior learning.
Note for everyone: If you are still unsure whether you would like to submit a declaration for a placement test and whether you can receive a placement, please contact the program manager responsible for your desired degree program. You can find the contact by selecting your desired degree program via our degree program overview and switching to the "Contact" section.
or, if you have any questions about the procedure, please contact the SSC application management directly.
Result of the examination = placement in the 1st semester
Placement in the 1st semester
Placement in higher semesters is possible if
- there are not enough recognizable achievements or
- the corresponding semester is not yet offered
Your chance: You can often still have individual achievements recognized. An application for recognition can be submitted after enrolment under "Recognition of examinations already taken"
Result of the examination = placement in a higher semester
The examination of the recognizable achievements in the desired degree programs resulted in a placement in a higher semester.
Please note the following points:
- the application will be adjusted by the HWG Ludwigshafen according to the classification.
- For some degree programs, there is a numerus clausus for the higher semester if there is an admission restriction, it must first be checked whether there are any free places in the semester you have been placed in after our students have re-registered.
- the allocation procedures take place outside of Hochschulstart (DoSV) in the internal application portal. The application submitted via hochschulstart.de will therefore be withdrawn.
- Please note that classification does not constitute recognition of your previous examination results. You must apply for this after enrolment under "Recognition of examination results already achieved".
- A classification may have consequences for your BAföG entitlement.
