Consul General Setsuko Kawahara speaks at the East Asia Institute - event series Women in Focus

As part of the Women in Focus event series organized by our university's Equal Opportunity and Diversity Coordination Office, Consul General Setsuko Kawahara will speak on the topic of career and family in a changing society.
How can a woman have a professional career and a happy family life at the same time? This is a new and old problem facing all women worldwide and throughout their lives. Although the social situation and legal framework for women continues to improve, many difficult challenges still remain. This is true for Japanese and German women.
Ms. Kawahara writes about this:
"Therefore, I would like to share my personal experiences of challenges and success, as well as some tips to provide some support to young and motivated women. I hope to encourage those who are not sure if and how they can achieve their goals and dreams at home and at work."
A discussion is planned following the lecture. Consul General Kawahara has visited us at the Institute before and is an outspoken and worldly person who guarantees interesting discussions.
The event will take place on November 13, 2019 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Emil Helfferich Collection (Museum) of the East Asia Institute (Rheinpromenade 12). Since the number of places is limited, we ask for registration at: kristina.scheuermann@ 8< SPAM protection, please remove >8 hwg-lu.de.
