Email account

An e-mail account is automatically created for each student when they enrol at the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society. This account can be used for internal communication or for receiving external emails. The login details for the new email system are identical to those for the PC pools (...W-Lan, VPN, OLAT via Shibboleth) at the university.

Your e-mail address is usually as follows:

Vorname.Nachname@studmail.hwg-lu.de

The e-mail address may differ in rare cases, e.g. if your name is too long or the name has already been assigned. You can also look up your address yourself in the webmail client.

Retrieval via the webmail client (browser)

The Outlook-web-app (OWA) offers the possibility to manage emails in the browser.

Webmail client

Help for the Outlook-web-app (OWA)

After logging in via the IDP, the initial setup follows.
Here comes first a privacy policy, then the time zone must be selected (+1 Berlin, Amsterdam).

After the initial setup, you can fully use the OWA.

Retrieval via mail program

To access the university mailbox in your personal mail client, click on "Add account" in your mail client (e.g. Outlook, Thunderbird, GMX, Yahoo, G-Mail, etc.). There you select the account connection "Exchange (possibly ActiveSync)".
Then enter your mail address and your HS password. It may take a few minutes for your mailbox to connect.

As far as the autodiscover of Exchange (Exchange active sync) does not work, you can integrate the mailbox manually with the data below.

If ActiveSync does not work, use the "manual setup" with the following data:
Mail address:
Email server:       mail.zdv.net
Domain:                       Campus
User name:   "HS login name"
(In rare cases also: domain\user name)
Password:

Incoming mails
Protocol:IMAP
Server address:mail.zdv.net
Port:993
Encryption:SSL

Outgoing mail
Protocol:SMTP
Server address:mail.zdv.net
Port:587

VPN - Virtual Private Network

You can access the university network from outside via VPN. This is necessary, for example, to be able to access your university drive or the library database from outside the Campus. As long as you are connected to VPN, the rules of the university network apply accordingly.

  3. The session at the PC has to be ended properly, i.e. basically Windows has to be shut down, the PC and monitor have to be switched off and the workplace has to be left clean.
  4. The copyright and license rights of the software used must be respected. Modifications, downloading or deleting of programs and data as well as the installation of own software is strictly prohibited.
  5. The backup of personal data, as well as the scanning of this data against viruses, is to be carried out on one's own responsibility.
  6. Food, drinks and smoking are prohibited at the PC workstations. It is not allowed to bring beverage bottles, cups or the like into the pools!

  10. Printouts from the workstation work via ASTA's network printer. Stored printouts can be picked up there for a fee during business hours.
  11. If the devices in the PC pools display an error message or other damage occurs, please inform the staff of the computer center or write a message via the fault message page of the computer center (see icon on desktop) .
  12. In any case, refrain from independent attempts to repair the hardware and do not replace any connected components!
  13. Serious violations or non-observance of the user rules will lead to blocking or exclusion as a user of the PC pools, theft will be reported!

These user regulations are a concretization of the previously valid regulations and come into force with publication.
